On 28th August 1898, due to fog, the British coal freighter Saint Weller collided in daylight with Percebera Point. It was sailing from Cardiff to Huelva with 964 tons of coal. The 19 crew members and their captain, Mr Frederiken Dacom, reached Camelle in their lifeboats.
The Saint Weller was a steamer who transported 1000 tons of coal; it was 260 feet long, 32 feet wide and had 24 feet depth of hold.
